The Constitution of India has 12 schedules, which contain a list of various topics that are relevant to the functioning of the government. The schedules are as follows:
- Schedule I: This schedule contains a list of the states and territories of India, along with the provisions that apply to each state.
- Schedule II: This schedule contains a list of the forms of oaths or affirmations that are to be taken by various public officials, such as the President, the Vice-President, the judges of the Supreme Court and the high courts, and the members of the Union and state public service commissions.
- Schedule III: This schedule contains a list of the Union and state territories, along with the powers and functions of the administration of each territory.
- Schedule IV: This schedule contains a list of the forms of oaths or affirmations that are to be taken by the members of the state legislatures.
- Schedule V: This schedule contains a list of the provisions regarding the administration of tribal areas in the states of Assam, Meghalaya, Tripura, and Mizoram.
- Schedule VI: This schedule contains the national flag of India, along with the guidelines for its use and display.
- Schedule VII: This schedule contains a list of the languages that are recognized by the Constitution of India.
- Schedule VIII: This schedule contains a list of the antarrashtriya sabhas (international organizations) to which India is a member.
- Schedule IX: This schedule contains a list of the salaries and allowances of the President, the Vice-President, the judges of the Supreme Court and the high courts, and the members of the Union and state public service commissions.
- Schedule X: This schedule contains a list of the salaries and allowances of the Speaker and the Deputy Speaker of the Lok Sabha (the lower house of the Parliament), the Chairman and the Deputy Chairman of the Rajya Sabha (the upper house of the Parliament), and the members of the Union and state legislatures.
- Schedule XI: This schedule contains a list of the powers and functions of the Union and the states with respect to the administration of the territories of India.
- Schedule XII: This schedule contains a list of the taxes and duties that are levied and collected by the Union, but are assigned to the states for their administration.
